GENESIS AND MILESTONES
From 1972 to 1975:
  • Food distribution to the poor sponsored by USA.
  • Establishement of pre-school centres at 45 villages.
  • Provided mid day meals to nursery school and unaided private schools.
  • Food and medicinal support to the TB affected people.
  • Mother and child Health service to improve the maternal health.
  • Promoted Hygiene practices of the children and mother.
  • Community Based Organizations were established at 40 villages.
  • Awareness generation camps were conducted for the welfare of the community.
  • Distributed seeds, plants and manure for improving agricultural produce.
From 1976 to 1980:
  • Financial assistance provided to the poor villagers to initiate Income Generation programmes such as goat rearing, Candle making, Backyard poultry, mat weaving and kitchen gardening.
  • Comprehensive Rural Development programmes for the integrated development of children, adolescents, youth and mothers funded by Terre dessHommes, Netherlands.
  • Established Deepthi Candle unit at Varuthattu.
From 1981 to 1990:
  • Food for work programme was initiated for the total liberation of poor man.
  • Under this programme yearly we have constructed 25 houses, 25 wells, roads, waiting sheds and library.
  • Provided irrigation facilities to make 250 acres of land fertile.
From 1991 to 1995:
  • Established Women's Organizations to mobilize the untapped resources of the community.
  • Small savings practices, awareness generation programmes about the existing social issues and the support for the poor and affected people were the services rendered through Women's Organizations.
  • Credit union was the chief instrument of these women's organizations. 32 credit unions were formed and operated successfully.
  • 250 houses were constructed for the flood affected people.
  • 200 houses were constructed in tie-up with Housing Finance development corporation (HDFC).
  • 380 unmarried girls joined and benefited from marriage aid fund.
  • Established KarunaiIllam:- A School and Home for the Physically Challenged Children, funded by TDH, Netherlands.
  • Started AseerVidhyalaya, A School for the Mentally Challenged Children.
  • AnderiHilfe sponsored funds for house maintenance (Roof tiling).
From 1996 to 2000:
  • Save A Family plan funded by CIDA to support the poor families.
  • Bishop Mar George Alencherry Silver jubilee Housing project for 25 poor houseless families.
  • Relief and rehabilitation programme funded by IGSSS meant for food, clothing, shelter, and house maintenance and crop revival.
  • A Geo Coir mate, Munchirai was established for income generation activities.
  • MakkalNarpaniKazhagam was started to protect the agricultural labourers and other poor income group people from the financial crisis.
  • As a pilot joint venture SHGs were formed in tie-up with Misereor, Thuckalay.
  • Family Aid programme for the economic wellbeing of the poor families was initiated by Fr. Philip Vaikathukaran.
  • People's Wealth in People's Hands programme funded by Caritas India was implemented.
From 2001 to 2005:
  • Project initiated for the Empowerment of Unorganized Rural Women funded by IGSSS.
  • Loan Scholarship for Vocational and Technical training programme funded by IGSSS.
  • Millennium Housing programme was initiated.
  • IGP, SPSD, EDP training programmes were conducted.
  • Provided loan for initiating IGP activities in tie-up with RashtriyaMahilaKosh.
  • Block level coordination committees and Panchayat level federations were formed to organize the unorganized women.
  • Rehabilitative services provided to tsunami victims.
  • SAFP, India adopted 50 families and constructed 50 houses.
  • Launched Primary School at Christhurajapuram.
  • Fishing equipments were provided to the tsunami sufferers.
  • Subsidy Loans, low cost sanitation and income generation training programmes were organized under the sponsorship of DRDA.
  • Purchased Aseer Auditorium for conducting community programmes.
  • From 2006 to 2010:
    • As a part of Post Tsunami rehabilitation works, Constructed 51 houses, distributed fishing equipments to 300 beneficiaries in partnership with Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA), New York.
    • Provided EDP training to 200 women and financial assistance to selected 32 beneficiaries for initiating micro enterprise as a pilot joint venture in association with CHAI.
    • Under SPED project we have constructed 3 Ferro Cement Tanks at two different places to reduce water scarcity.
    • Financial assistance also provided to 5 families for the private wells renovation work.
    • 6 stone bunds, 50 soil bunds, 100 trenches were made to prevent soil erosion as well as to recharging ground water.
    • Contributed Rs. 5000/- each to 10 families to renovate their houses, supported by SAFP.
    • 370 SHGs were formed and linked with MahalirThittam. 10 sanitary latrines were constructed to avoid the spreading of communicable diseases.
    • IDEA Project first phase was started to empower the health, education and livelihood conditions of women.
    • Raskob foundation for catholic activities sanctioned funds to promote capacity building training to preschool teachers and group leaders.
    • Extended the existing administrative block.
    • NMDFC has sanctioned Rs. 25 lakhs for the economic empowerment of the marginalized women, 182 beneficiaries from seven SHGs got benefited.
    • IDEA project II was initiated under the sponsorship of Caritas India for women empowerment.
    • Caritas India also sanctioned Goat rearing project on revolving basis for the economic empowerment of the poor villagers.
    From 2011 to 2015:
    • Inaugurated Angel Garment Unit at Palugal.
    • Millennium housing project (SAFP) provided financial assistance to 16 houseless families.
    • Project initiated for tribal development funded by Manos Unidas.
    • New Thrust project was initiated to attain zero poverty through integral human development, 13 women were designated in Panchayath Raj Institutions.
    • SMCA, Kuwait sanctioned housing project for 25 houseless families belonging to below poverty line.
    • Angel Garments, Palukal Bagged Excellence in Organization Productivity Award from V-STAR Creations Private Limited. Ernakulam.

    • Renovation of flooring and roofing at KarunaiIllam,
    • Recreation centre for KarunaiIllam.
    From 2016 to 2021:
    • Inauguration of EDUCARE-Flagship Programme, intended to reinforce the academic and non-academic excellence of vulnerable and single parent children. 150 children were identified and were given life skill training and Residential summer camp in the holistic approach model.
    • Under SAFP program, 10 new families are added. 10 training and awareness programs were conducted.
    • Under SHG program, 17 training and awareness programs were conducted.
    • 20 nursery schools have been established to provide quality early childhood education.
    • Various Programs focussed on education such as Kalakal Thalir, Varnam, EdDUCARE Summer Camp, SPARK are being conducted every year.
    • Under livelihood enhancement programs, 80 women increased their family income through Angel Garment Unit; 620 were encouraged to do organic farming; 55 women were given 15 hens and a hen cage to do hen rearing; 240 women were benefited by mushroom cultivation.
    • Under Tribal Development, Bee-Keeping training was given to women and Aseer Study Centre in Orunooramvayal  was started. Summer Camps were conducted by Interns
    • Under Environment Protection programs, campaigns such as Plant a Tree, Clean Village, Mass awareness programs, Clean Hospital were conducted successfully.
    • Mother Teresa Palliative Care Services, Flagship health initiative was started. So far, 600 senior citizens and abandoned people are benefitted.
    • Under Rehabiltation Programs, Medical Camp, Exposure Visits were conducted for Special Schools children. 7 special schools have been establish to provide inclusive education. Talent Fest 2017 were organised to showcase their talents.
    • Formation of Association of Institution of Differently Abled Children in Thuckaly to identify the children who are in need of special schools and Recreation Centre has been started to fulfil the needs of special children.
    • Two Skill Training Centres named DB Tech and Ozanam were started in Munchirai and Uthirmcode. 364 students completed skill training courses.
    • Primary Health Care for the Dalits at Melpuram block.
    • 11 Staff Development Programs were organised.

    • Purchase of Ambulance for Pallative Care
    • Livestock rearing training to widows with the collaboration of Little Way Association
